There is something to be said for a character like the female saints row Boss who is so unrestrained from things like rules of femininity or good behaviour, but is unabashedly female regardless. Just the strong force of personality, it made my teenage self want to be like her, so I get it

With most characters in fantasy and sci-fi games I felt like "this is a cool perfect tiefling/alien woman, she's made up, I'm playing as her." But the Boss female voice 1 was messy in a way that made her femininity feel accessible. It was the first time I subconsciously made the character look like a female version of myself, and that was long before I knew I was trans.
